The first case of African swine fever has officially been reported in North Korea.

Agriculture Secretary Manny F. Piñol urged meat importers to observe control and regulation in sourcing out canned meat from countries that not affected by African Swine Fever (ASF). The Secretary also encouraged the group to buy from the local hog raisers.

The objective is to control the disease, strengthen countries’ prevention and preparation efforts, and minimise the adverse effects on animal health, animal welfare and international trade.
