The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has confirmed the presence of a new african swine fever (ASF) focus on a pig farm with 17,000 susceptible animals located in the village of Nikolovo, Rousse municipality, Rousse district.

The farrow to finish farm is located 9 km from the Romanian border.

It has been ordered the immediate culling of the animals of the affected farm and the 3 km safety zone around the affected holding. In the 10 km surveillance area there is another large commercial farm in the village of Yudelnik as well as backyard farms.

It is forbidden to trade, move and transport live pigs in an area of 10 km. It will also check if there are unauthorized movement and/or trade of domestic pigs.
