The European Union has published in the DOUE the Commission Regulation (EU) No 206/2010 of 12 March 2010 laying down lists of third countries, territories or parts thereof authorised for the introduction into the European Union of certain animals and fresh meat and the veterinary certification requirements.

Malta - Meat production decreased

Meat production in the last quarter of 2009 decreased by 7.3 per cent to 3,639 tonnes. While pigmeat and broiler-meat production declined by 12.8 and 1.5 per cent respectively, there was an increase of 5.0 per cent in the production of beef meat.

European Union - FVO final report in relation to the import of pig meat from Brazil

The objective of the mission was the evaluation of the food safety and public health controls in place as well as certification procedures in relation to potential exports of pig meat from Brazil to the European Union. This potential export was evaluated in the State of Santa Catarina (SC), which since 2007 has the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) status "free from foot and mouth disease (FMD) without vaccination".
