LaTienda.com, the leading online retailer of gourmet food from Spain, recently began to deliver Spain’s celebrated Iberico and Serrano ham products to Canadian customers. Due to customs regulations, imported meat cannot currently be brought in to Canada through the United States, frustrating many Canadian customers. To remedy this situation, LaTienda.com is working with a Canadian firm to ensure that the delectable cured jamón (ham in Spanish), as well as chorizo sausages, will now be shipped legally to Canadian addresses.

"Jamon is the emblematic food of Spain, but we couldn’t offer it to our Canadian customers." says Tim Harris, co-owner of LaTienda.com. "Canadians can now have whole Iberico and Serrano hams as well as Palacios chorizo sausages delivered to their homes."

This effort to expand its relationship with the Canadian market is the latest sign of LaTienda.com’s recent successful growth. Within the past three months, the fourteen-year old online company launched a new retail website for the European market, as well as opened its first retail store near their corporate headquarters in Williamsburg, VA.

Offering the largest selection of Spanish food in North America, LaTienda.com hopes to provide its customers with truly artisan foods from Spain and help small communities in Spain stay connected to their land and food-making traditions. The store appeals particularly to food lovers, Spanish expatriates and those who have enjoyed Spanish cuisine on their holidays.
