There were big shifts in export values this month, with notable increases in exports of pork meat fresh chilled or frozen.
The FAO Meat Price Index was up marginally in May as pig meat price quotations continued to rise amid strong import demand from East Asia.
Between January and March of 2019, the European pork exports have increased by more than 9%.
Agriculture Secretary Manny F. Piñol urged meat importers to observe control and regulation in sourcing out canned meat from countries that not affected by African Swine Fever (ASF). The Secretary also encouraged the group to buy from the local hog raisers.
