This study aimed at assessing possible associations between the biosecurity level, antimicrobial usage and farm and production characteristics in order to advice on best practices for a low antimicrobial usage and maximum animal health and production.

The reason for the variability of resistance between animal species is unknown and requires further research.  

Detection of SVA in mice and housefly samples and recovery of viable virus from mouse feces and small intestine here, suggests that these pests may play a role on the epidemiology of SVA.

The U.S. PEDV prototype and the S-INDEL-variant strains induced similar viremia levels in inoculated pigs.

This system may be useful for monitoring sentinel herds in real time, considerably reducing the financial and logistical costs of periodic sampling and increasing the chances of early detection of infection.

We describe here the construction of a novel vaccine strain that confers excellent protection against B. suis in a mouse model of infection.

There were similar changes in the GI microbiome associated with carriage of S. enterica regardless of whether the pigs were experimentally challenged with S. enterica or acquired it naturally.

These findings indicate that vaccination with an attenuated S. Typhimurium strain reduces S. enterica shedding, but the reduction is not consistent and the vaccine strain may persist in tissues.

This is the first study to report the Senecavirus A infection in clinically affected pigs outside of North America. Senecavirus A was considered a novel emerging pathogen associated with an important vesicular disease in Brazil.
