According to the data on the use of antibiotics in farm animals in 2017, published by the Dutch Authority on Veterinary Drugs (Sda), the use of antibiotics, expressed in daily doses, has dropped once more with respect to 2016.

The decreases seen have been by 23.7% in turkeys, 7.8% in fattening chickens, 3.6% in calves and 1.9% in pigs, whilst a slight rise is seen in the cattle sector (2.2%).

The use of last resort antibiotics, fluoroquinolones and third and fourth generation cephalosporins specifically, has been very low once more in the farming sectors controlled.
