ASF spreads through Romania

The disease has been detected in domestic pigs in a new Romanian county, specifically in Constanta, in the east of the country.

After the appearance of the disease in Romania in August 2107 for the first time, African swine fever has spread through the country.

Despite the outbreaks were initially located in the area of Satu Mare, in the northeast of the country, months after outbreaks were confirmed in the east of Romania, in Tulcea. The WOAH/OIE has informed now of new outbreaks of the disease in domestic pigs in the region of Constanta.

The new outbreak, that has affected a pig on a backyard farm, is located in Istria.
