Brazil: Strategic Plan against CSF made official

Announced in October by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA), the Strategic Plan for Eradicating Classical Swine Fever in Brazil was made official this week, through Ordinance No. 264, published in the Official Gazette (DOU).

The fourteenth meeting of the standing group of experts on African Swine Fever(SGE ASF14) took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 10 and 11 September 2019. Representatives from 34 European countries attended the meeting, as well as a representative of China.

OIE: New official disease status

OIE’s official disease status can be issued for six priority diseases. These status are of major importance to OIE Members and are of great significance for international trade as they constitute an official reference for the World Trade Organization (WTO). They reflect the level of transparency and quality of the Veterinary Services of the country, increase the value of its livestock sector and facilitate regional and international trade of animals and animal products.
