Peru begins vaccinating pigs against CSF

More than 3 million pigs will be vaccinated against classical swine fever in Peru.

In order to safeguard the country's pig health and prevent economic losses to livestock producers, the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, has developed a national vaccination campaign against classical swine fever.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation projects that by the end of the year, 3,400,000 Peruvian pigs will have been vaccinated against classical swine fever (CSF).

The goal of this campaign is to vaccinate all backyard and conventional pigs, as well as to train and educate farmers.

Vaccination is mandatory for all pig farmers, who must apply for an official vaccination certificate, a requirement that will allow them to acquire a health certificate for internal transit to be able to move their animals.

Vaccination of pigs done after 45 days of age.
