The Ministry of Agriculture is allowing pig farms to resume operations following outbreaks of African swine fever in the area. It has been almost a year since ASF has been detected in domestic pigs. The last outbreak in domestic pigs occurred October 9, 2019.

There are 261 farms in the Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces that have been left empty following the ASF outbreaks that will now undergo a disinfection and inspection process to be able to restock.

Strict biosecurity measures will be followed as ASF continues to affect wild boar in the country. As of September 8, 2020, a total of 736 cases in wild boars have been detected in the northern regions of Gyeonggi and Gangwon. Cases had declined significantly from April to June but have since been increasing.
