Second ASF outbreak in South Korea

The OIE/WOAH has informed of a new case of African swine fever (ASF) on a commercial farm in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi.

It is the second outbreak confirmed by the South Korean veterinary authorities, and it is located in Yeoncheon-gun, in the province of Gyeonggi, that borders North Korea. It is a farm with 4,732 susceptible animals.

Regarding the first case detected in Paju, also in the province of Gyeonggi, the WOAH/OIE has informed of the preventive culling of 1,5000 pigs in two farms more (with 1,000 heads and 500 heads) whose owner is the same as that of the first farm affected, that had 2,450 susceptible animals.
