Netherlands: more pigs slaughtered and heavier carcass weights

During the first trimester the number of pigs slaughtered increased by 35,000 compared to 2019, and the slaughter weight increased by almost 1 kg.

The latest data published by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) on pig slaughter in the first trimester of this year indicates a slight increase (+0.82%) from the same period last year.

During the first 14 weeks of this year, a total of 4,316,000 head have been slaughtered compared to 4,281,000 in 2019.

Slaughter weight has increased on average by more than 1 kg (100.4 kg vs. 99.1 kg).
