The OIE/WOAH has informed of the serological presence of Aujeszky’s disease on 4 backyard farms located in the state of Tamaulipas, and on another one in the state of Guerrero. The animals did not show clinical signs.

The farms are located in Teloloapan (Guerrero), with 147 susceptible animals, and in Jaumave (5 and 7) and Mainero (6 and 8), in Tamaulipas.

The discovery is the result of the active epidemiologic surveillance carried out in all Mexico. Positive ELISA and seroneutralisation results were obtained in the 5 outbreaks. The virus has not been isolated so far.

The producers in these areas were advised to notify the presence of characteristic signs of the disease to the official veterinary services immediately, as well as to avoid the movements of pigs.

Mexico was declared free of the disease in 2015.
