The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) published last Wednesday, in the official journal, an agreement by which the Mexican pig production is declared free of Aujeszky's disease.

On 28 January 2015, the SAGARPA declared the state of San Luis Potosí free from Aujeszky's disease, and thanks to this Mexico attained the eradication of this disease, based on the national and international technical and scientific guidelines.

We must remember that since December 20111, the technicians of the National Service for Health, Harmlesness and Agri-food Quality (SENASICA) have not detected (isolated) the virus that causes Aujeszky's disease, so the epidemiologic surveillance will still go on to avoid its re-entry in the Mexican pig production and to keep Mexico free from this disease.
