The CSQA, a certification organism accredited in Italy, has presented the three new voluntary quality regulations, among them the "pigs without antibiotics".

The "Pig without antibiotics" is the first standard in Italy for the meat of pigs reared without the use of antibiotics under the Technical Regulation (DTP no.109) as a standard established by the CSQA in order to guarantee the Italian origin of the meat, as well as the high quality and healthiness of the products, besides the traceability and the absence of antibiotics from immediately after the weaning of the animals that, besides, are only fed with plant derived products. The certification, by the CSQA establishes the respect for the use of an appropriate space for the animals, and suitable nutrition and a balanced growth rate, which are the basic assumptions so the pigs do not get sick and do not need a treatment with antibiotics.

The first Italian company that has obtained this certification is "Senza Srl".
