According to the Zooprophylactic Institute Umbria and Marche, the National Reference Center for pestiviruses, the presence of African swine fever has been confirmed in a wild boar in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. It is a dead animal found in Ovada, province of Alessandria.

ASF is present in Italy on the island of Sardinia, where the disease is endemic.
