Increase in the number of pigs slaughtered in Russia

In the last 8 years the number of pigs slaughtered in Russia has grown by 5 million heads.

The estimated volume of meat production in Russia in 2016 could reach 10 million tonnes, with some 3.4 million tonnes being pork, according to the statement of Mr. Hatuov Dzhambulat Hizirovich, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Russia.

The Prime Minister added that the pig industry has shown a constant growth in the last years. Thanks to the State's support measures, the investments and the comprehensive development of the industry in the last 8 years, the production of pigs for their slaughter has increased by 1.3 million tonnes liveweight and by more than 5 million heads. By the end of this year pork production will have grown by 300,000 tonnes.
