In response to the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies, the Chinese health authorities have approved a new format for the certification of official veterinarians authorised to sign International Health Certificates. (IHC) for this country.

With the new regulations, instead of each agriculture and livestock federal fiscal auditor being able to sign IHCs only for a specific establishment, a single list of authorised veterinarians is cretaed for the issuing of IHCs in any of them, provided that they are authorised by China.

According to the Ministry of Trade and International Affairs, this measure reduces significantly the possibility of the withholding of Brazilian shipments in Chinese ports based on divergences between the signatures included in the list and the IHCs issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil.

The new regulations have been implemented on beef, pork and fowl. In 2018, Brazil exported meat to China amounting USD2,593 million. It is the greatest buyer of Brazilian meat, with 17.6% of the total meat exports.
