China’s Ministry of Agriculture has issued the 12th Five Year Plan for the animal husbandry sector, which attaches importance to the country’s self-sufficiency.

By 2015, China expects to maintain the output for meat at 85 million tonnes. Production value of the animal husbandry sector is expected to take up 36% of the total, while total feed output is forecast to reach 200 million tonnes.

Feed production, with annual capacity of more than 500,000 tonne, is likely to account for half of the total production.
