The Minister of Agro-Industry, Mr Luis Miguel Etchevehere, visited, together with the Vice President of the Agri-Food Health and Quality National Service (SENASA), Mr. Guillermo Rossi, and the President of the company located in the region of Santa Fe, Mr Juan Carlos Paladini, the premises of the meat processing company that will carry out the first Argentinian shipment of pork to China: 10 containers of between 20 and 22 tonnes of pork each, during the first week of August.

The health authorisation of this meat processing plant was announced by the President of Argentina, Mr Mauricio Macri, in April 2019.

It is expected that during 2019, Argentina exports a total of 18,000 tonnes of pork to China.

We must highlight that the signing of the protocol to be able to export pork was carried out through negotiations between the Ministry of Agro-Industry, the SENASA, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship. In April, Mr Etchevehere went on a commercial mission to China and signed the authorising document together with the Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, Mr Li Guo, in which (besides Paladini), the companies Campo Austral and Pompeya were also authorised.

From January to June 2019, this production reached 310,893 tonnes of carcass with bone: 4% more than in the same period in 2018. This has allowed to guarantee the growth of the exports of this product by more than 50% in comparison with 2018 (9,524 tonnes).
