Pre-weaning socialization allows piglets from different litters to interact with each other while still in the farrowing room with the goal of reducing aggression among the piglets at weaning.

One easy way to facilitate pre-weaning socialization is to create an opening between two neighboring farrowing crates which allows the piglets to freely move between the two pens.

With this tip, there is no need to remove any pen walls and the partition can easily be opened or closed as needed.

There is the option to restrict the piglets to just the two nesting areas or to give them access to the entire farrowing pens.
