Undersecretary of State Rafał Romanowski met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Poland, Shigeo Matsutomi. This was the first bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture since the submission of the credentials by the Ambassador in April 2016.

One of the topics of the meeting was a discussion about the upcoming visit of the Japanese delegation to Poland. Deputy Minister Romanowski declared his readiness to make the Japanese partners familiar with the highest standards in agricultural production in Poland. The talks also applied to the possibility of intensifying the export of Polish agri-food products to the Japanese market, in particular abolishing by Japan the ban on the import of Polish pork and poultry.

Rafał Romanowski informed that the situation in relation to the occurrence of the ASF virus had been stabilised, and the last outbreak of the disease in pigs took place in September 2016.
