Spain: pig slaughterings decrease

Total pig meat production in Spain reached a total of 1,745,337 tonnes: a decrease by 1.73%.

The data published by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture (MAGRAMA) regarding the slaughterings of animals and meat production during the first six months of 2013 show how the total pig meat production in Spain reached 1,745,337 tonnes: a decrease by 1.73% in comparison with the same period in 2012 (1,776,062 tonnes).

With respect to the number of slaughtered animals during the first half of this year, it reached 20,735,831 heads: 1.46% less than during the first six months of 2012 (21,042,509 heads).
