Almost a hundred animals rights activists have broken this early morning into an abattoir located in Riudellots de la Selva, in the province of Girona. The activists, connected to the group "269 libération animale", were protesting for the slaughtering of animals.
The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Government of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia will consider the prosecution against this group of people that broke this early morning into the abattoir located in Riudellots de la Selva.
The Department warns of the risks for animal and public health from entering farms and abattoirs without the appropriate biosecurity measures. Forceful entries like this one put at risk food safety. They also affect animal welfare enormously, causing stress and distress incidents.
