Last Sunday's early morning, a group of the animal rights activist movement “Meat the Victims” entered a pig farm located in the province of Barcelona (Spain) without permission to protest, according to them, against the conditions under which the animals are raised. The activists remained on the farm for several hours until the agents of the Catalan autonomous police arrived.

According to several sources, “Meat the Victims” was born Australia and acted for the first time in Europe last December in another town in the province of Barcelona, specifically on a layer farm.

This kind of actions have taken place, in the last months, in other countries, such as the UK, where last March 5th more than a hundred “Meat the Victims” activists trespassed a pig farm.

Trespassing a farm without the owner's permission violates private property rights. Also, the fact of entering a farm while ignoring all the biosecurity measures entails an important health risk. On the other hand, the entry of a great amount of people that are not the usual workers may involve stress-derived welfare issues.
