Russia increased pork production and reduced imports in 2015

As of December 1st 2015, the Russian pig herd increased by 9.5%, adding up 21.9 million heads. The number of animals on industrial farms rose by 11.9%, reaching 17.7 million heads.

During the first 11 months of 2015, the pig production on commerial farms reached 2.04 million tonnes (carcass weight), 8.6% more in comparison with the same period in 2014.

Regarding the imports of refrigerated or frozen pork, lard and offal in January-November 2015, the total volume (excluding the data of the trade within the Eurasian Customs Union) reached 301,500 tonnes, 19.2% less than during the same period in 2014.
