Talks between Sergey Dankvert and Belarusian Chief Veterinary Officer Yuri Pivovarchik took place on February 24.

The main topic of the dialogue was the development of cooperative actions to prevent African swine fever spread. The Head of the Russian Surveillance Service expressed his concerns about the current ASF epidemic situation in wild fauna. He proposed to the Belarusian party to conduct joint monitoring of wild boars inhabiting the border regions of the both countries. Yury Pivovarchik confirmed his interest in joint actions to stabilize the epidemic situation and assured Sergey Dankvert that the Belarusian party would do everything possible for that purpose.

Based on the meeting results it was agreed to arrange a mutual control during the wild fauna monitoring and exchange of relevant information. In the nearest time the joint groups of specialists will start sampling from wild boars in the Gomel and Mogilyov Oblasts. The tests will be carried out by Russian and Belarusian labs in parallel. The obtained data on wild animal state, their migration routes and intensity will serve as a basis for the future dialogue and expansion of pork product export and import activities.
