Stamping out (stamping out of all susceptible animals was completed on 9 January 2012); 163 cattle (154 cattle in the affected farm and 9 without clinical signs in a premises considered to be in contact) and 5 swine without clinical signs were culled.

Quarantine of premises around the outbreak and in the surveillance zone and implementation of an emergency zone where specific surveillance measures are applied.

Restriction measures applied in the affected areas in the emergency zone, with implementation of checkpoints and ban on movements of animals and by-products from localities in the emergency zone.

The Nazareth farm is located at about 15 kilometers from the previous outbreak in the emergency zone established at that time; during surveillance, illegal introduction of 23 animals of unknown origin was identified, the farmer could not justify the origin of these animals. Epidemiological investigation is on-going.
