Netherlands: Export of pig slurry increases

Dutch pig slurry exports increased by 8.2% last year with the leading destination being Belgium.

While total manure exports from the Netherlands (3,067,917 t) decreased slightly last year (-0.7%), the export of pig manure (893,390 t) increased by 8.2% (+7.5% in kg phosphate and +6.7% in kg nitrogen).

The main destinations for total manure from the Netherlands last year were Germany (1,388,089 t), followed by Belgium (793,699 t) and France (758,663 t). While exports to Germany and France decreased by 7.7% and 0.8%, exports to Belgium increased by 11.8%.

Regarding exports of swine manure alone, Belgium was the main destination, with a total of 449,405 t and an increase of 15.8%. On the other hand, exports to Germany decreased by 12.8% to 295,072 t and those to France increased significantly (+48.7%) to 144,529 t.
