According to the last bulletin “Infos Rapides” of the statistics service of the Ministry of Agriculture of France (Agreste), during the first nine months of 2014 the slaughterings have dropped by 0.3% in terms of the number of heads, but they have increased by 0.6% in terms of weight with respect to the same period in 2013 thanks to a slight rise in the average weight.

In September 2014, the average price of the E+S category was €1.48/kg: a year-by-year drop by 18%, being, for the first time in 2014, under the average price seen from 2009 to 2013 (-5%). The high production level seems to have had an influence, especially on the prices.

With respect to pork exports, since the beginning of 2014 there has been a year-by-year drop by 5%.
