Last January 12th, the National Assembly of France sanctioned the bill presented by Olivier Farloni regarding the respect for animals at the abattoirs after the results of the reports by the surveillance commission on the slaughter conditions at the French abattoirs.

The National Assembly approved, unexpectedly, after the first reading of the bill, the compulsory video surveillance at the abattoirs as of January 1st 2018. The members of parliament also approved the key measure of the fist bill on “the respect for animals at the abattoirs”, whose goal is to increase the transparency and control at the 960 French abattoirs.
