European Union continues the upward trend in pork exports

European pork exports follow last year’s trend with an increase of 9.1% during the first quarter.

European pork exports follow last year’s trend with an increase of 9.1% during the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 749,691 tons exported. The main destination is Russia, with 25.6% of the total (203,161 tons) and a 3% increase compared to the first quarter of 2011, followed by Hong Kong with a 15.8% share (125,200 tons and a decrease of 1%), China with 14.6% of the total (116 003 tons and an increase of 111%) and South Korea with 6.3% share (49 916 tons and a 22% reduction).

Imports also repeated the trend with a decrease of 6.1% and a total of 8866 tons imported between January and March 2012.
