Denmark decided to reduce the prevalence of Salmonella in pig carcasses at a level of 1% in year 2013, but bearing in mind that by the end of September 2103 the incidence was 1.4% and that the Ministry thinks that reaching the initial goal is not very probable, in 2014 the Ministry will still work with the aim of reaching a level below 1%.

Since 1995, Denmark has plans of action against Salmonella in pig meat. Every year between 100 and 200 cases of infection by Salmonella occur in which pig meat is the culprit.
