China 2018 pork production down

According to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2018, the total output of pork, beef, mutton and poultry was 85.17 million tons, slightly down by 0.3 percent over that of last year.

Specifically, the total output of pork was 54.04 million tons, down by 0.9 percent; beef 6.44 million tons, up by 1.5 percent; mutton 4.75 million tons, up by 0.8 percent; poultry 19.94 million tons, up by 0.6 percent.

There were 428.17 million pigs registered, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0 percent and 693.82 million pigs slaughtered, a decrease of 1.2 percent.
