After a rise in PEDV cases in Manitoba since last May, it seems that the constant confirmation of new affected farms has slowed down, and since late October, no more cases have been confirmed.

As of October 24th, the total number of affected farms since the appearance of the disease was 90, out of which 80 were affected since May. Of the 80 farms affected this year, currently 56 have improved their health status with respect to the disease, and 25 have reached the presumed negative status for PED (farms and animals negative for PED, with the exception of the slurry storage and handling equipment), and 31 in the PED transitional status (positive farm with no clinically infected pigs and groups of pigs that do not shed the virus).
