The Secretary of International Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies (MAPA) of Brazil, Mr. Odilson Ribeiro e Silva, announced, after attending the meeting of the 4th Brazil-Russia Agricultural Committee, that both countries are working towards the increase of the bilateral trade of agrifood products. It is expected that this trade flow grows from the current USD5 billion to USD10 billion in five years.

The Brazilian government showed interest in increasing the meat (beef, pork and chicken) and milk exports to Russia, and the Russian government, in turn, showed interest in increasing the exports of fish, mainly cod.

Apart from the bilateral trade, during the meeting the previous list of exporting establishments was discussed, when the country's health authorities notify it to the importing country. The investments, the scientific and technological cooperation, and the participation in fairs and congresses with the aim of increasing the bilateral trade were also discussed.
