Brazil: Hong Kong is takes its place as the main destination for Brazilian pork

According to information published by ABIPECS, last year, Hong Kong became the number one destination of Brazilian pork, displacing Russia as the second most important destination.

Between January and December of 2011, Brazil exported 129,734 tons of pork to Hong Kong, representing an increase of 30.08% over the previous year while for the same period exports to Russia stood at 126,449 tons, a decrease of 45.96% compared to 2010.

In absolute terms, Brazil ended the year less dramatically than expected. There was a slight decline in pork exports - 4.44% in tons - and a 7% increase in value. Brazil exported 516,419 tons and generated sales worth U.S. $ 1.43 billion, compared with 540,418 tons and $ 1.34 billion in 2010.
