VIV Europe 2010 back to its roots in Utrecht

VIV Europe 2010 will take place from April 20 - 22, 2010 in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, The Netherlands. The international exhibition on innovative animal husbandry aims to be the ultimate meeting place for international top decision makers in the feed to meat industry. This year two special themes with related conferences will be presented at the exhibition, Eggs! and Meat Safety. Up to 400 companies from 32 different countries have already booked a stand, covering about 75 % of the total exhibition floor.

Spain – Slight fall in swine population

The latest figures from the swine census published by the Spanish Agriculture Ministry show a slight decrease in the swine population during the first six months of 2009. This decrease is mainly due to the fall in the number of piglets.

To meet unprecedented demand for the prolific AC1 hybrid gilt in the Philippines, Wellisa Farms has invested 15 million Philippine pesos (over £200,000) to expand its nucleus herd from 300 to 700 sows to increase production. It expects sales to double in 2009.
