The Dutch administration wants to maintain an open dialogue with society about the future of farming and in particular, about mega livestock complexes. The most important arguments in this discussion are animal wellbeing and public health risks. This social dialogue is focused on several fronts, being carried out through an online platform, where anyone can give their opinion, converse, or ask questions on a website created for this purpose, as well as through meetings.

China - Proportion of standardized large-scale animal production in China to increase by 10-15 percentage points

The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) stated that by 2015, the proportion of large-scale production of major animals would be raised by 10-15 percentage points and the number of standardized farms would account for 50% of the total of large-scale farms; productivity of those standardized large-scale farms would be improved; the animal waste would be treated to reach the standards for discharge or utilized as a resource; and the quality and safety of animal products would be substantially upgraded.

USDA publishes Organic Program Handbook

Prepared by the National Organic Program (NOP), the handbook provides guidance about the national organic standards and instructions that outline best program practices.
