In order to better serve the pork industry, OPPC held a strategic planning session, led by strategic planning specialist, Jon Iveson, to determine key areas the organization should focus resources on moving into the future.

The group compiled ideas to create a list of key priorities to focus on over the next five years:

  • Consumer Education
  • Communications
  • Disease / PRRS Control
  • Business and Secession Planning
  • Additional Packer Capacity

A new “PRRS control task force” has also been established as a result of the strategic planning session. The group will consist of producers, veterinarians and other industry partners. The task force’s goal will be to increase control of the PRRS virus for Ohio producers.
