The Brazilian pork production rose by 4.95% in 2015 in comparison with 2014, with a total production of 3,643 million tonnes.

The Brazilian pork production rose by 4.95% in 2015 in comparison with 2014, with a total production of 3,643 million tonnes, according to the data of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

In terms of heads, 41.3 million were produced: an increase by 3.42% in comparison with 2014. According to the surveys carried out by the ABPA, the state of Santa Catarina was the biggest producer in 2015, with 900,460 tonnes produced: a volume 5.44% higher than in 2014.

The national pork consumption per capita reached 15.08 kg (a rise by 2.52%), being this the first time that 15 kg are exceeded.
