Thailand’s livestock associations oppose opening pork market to US

Thailand’s 12 livestock and agriculture associations have voiced concerns over the negative impact on Thai farmers if the government opens the pork market to the US.

According to Asian Agribiz, Surachai Sutthitham, President of the Swine Raisers Association of Thailand, said the potential deal will allow ractopamine-fed pork and unwanted pork parts from the US into Thailand.

Ractopamine is prohibited for use in animal feed in Thailand.
