Meat consumption in Switzerland increased by 0.2% in 2011 compared to the previous year, with an average per capita meat consumption of around 53.74 kg.
With the exception of pork, game and rabbit, meat consumption has increased slightly for all animal species, particularly for poultry (4.6%), which allowed it to take to second position and overcome beef for the first time.
Despite the decline of 1.7% in per capita consumption, pork is still the favorite, followed by chicken at 11.43 kg (3.9%) and beef at 11.29 kg (+ 1.2%).

Regarding meals away from home, with a 23.2% total, beef was the most consumed, followed by pork with a total of 22.4%.

Comparing the last three years, there is a clear upward trend, especially for poultry, while pork has stagnated at a high level in homes and lost its appeal in meals away from home.
