Last week a meeting between MARM and Spanish swine sector representatives was held in order to analyze the evolution of production, costs, and foreign commerce.

Another year has found an increase in exportations, especially to third party countries, for a value of 2.5 billion Euros, indicating a 5.5% increase compared to 2009. Also notable has been the fact that the value of these exportations has increased more so than the actual volume exported, which speaks to the exportation of higher quality products (ribs) or products with a higher value added (processed meat, cured meat; prepared meat and preserved meat).
