Spain: increase in pig meat exports

Exports of pork increased over the last year and amounted to 995,319 tons.

In 2011 the Spanish meat industry exported a total of 1.40 million tons of fresh produce, and 116,000 tons of meat products, with foreign sales of 3,644 million euros, up 17.1% higher than the 3.112 million billed in 2010, according to data from the Confederation of business Organizations of the Beef Industry in Spain (Confecarne).

The meat trade balance is particularly positive (if in 2010 the coverage rate was 229% in 2011 it rose to a spectacular 283%).

Specifically, for the pig sector exports of pork increased over the last year and amounted to 995,319 tons and 2.086 million euros (869,020 tons and 1,726,319 Euros in 2010). It also exported 260,560 tons of debris, 25,151 tons of cured ham, 33,765 tons of cured sausage, 6,746 tons of cooked ham, 10,673 t of cooked sausage and 39,736 tons of other products.
