Russia - Rostov Region to produce 38,000 fewer tons of meat due to ASF

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Rostov region, the region will produce 38.000 tons of meat less in the coming year because of African swine fever outbreaks, due to which the number of pigs in the region was reduced by almost three fold.

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Rostov region, the region will produce 38.000
tons of meat less in the coming year because of African swine fever outbreaks, due to which the
number of pigs in the region was reduced by almost three fold.


African swine fever was registered in 18 of the 55 municipal entities of the region, and 49.400
pigs were destroyed as a result. The latest outbreak occurred in August. Considering the number
of destroyed and sold pigs in the area this year, pig livestock decreased by 396.000 and totaled
about 530.000.
