Russia: new outbreak of African swine fever

The Russian authorities have notified the OIE of a new outbreak of African swine fever in the country. The outbreak is number 234 following confirmation of the first outbreak on September 11, 2009.

The latest outbreak is located in Novonickolayevskaya (Krasnodarskiy) with 3362 susceptible animals, of which there have emerged 67 confirmed cases and 18 deaths. A total of 3344 animals have been destroyed.
