The Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Mr. Alexander Tkachev, informed about the preliminary results of the agrarian sector in 2016, according to which this year the best cereal harvest in 40 years is expected, with some 117 million tonnes, of wich 72.5 million will be wheat and 18.3 million barley, according to what the MAPAMA has published in its foreign news bulletin.
Regarding stockbreeding, the growth goes on. In 2016, the livestock and fowl production for slaughter increased by 5%, reaching more than 14 million tonnes in liveweight. In the first 9 months of this year, the exports of meat products increased by 60% and exceeded 150,000 tonnes. Regarding this, one of the priorities is supporting the exports and the promotion of Russian foods in the foreign markets.
