Last June, the Government Decree no. 95/22014, that establishes the regulations on the sales of feed products derived from fresh or processed meat from the 'porco preto', was published in the Diário de República.
The 'porco preto' name is used indiscriminately in the domestic market in the case of fresh meat, processed meat products and meat products that do not meet, in most of the cases, the features that this kind of product must fulfil. In the same way, in the restaurant business, the indiscriminate use of the 'porco preto' name is also seen.
So, a legal framework that allows avoiding misleading the consumers, as well as disloyal competition among traders, must be established.
